Steps to Train Your Teddy to Fetch Items
1. Holding the Item
Begin by gently opening your Teddy's mouth and placing a toy or another suitable item inside. Give the command "Hold" and lightly support their chin until they understand what you mean. When your Teddy is holding the item, use a leash to guide them while they carry it. Once successful, immediately reward them. Repeat this several times until they are proficient. Gradually let them walk on their own and then guide them to bring the item back to you.
2. Delivering the Item
Due to their small mouths, choose items that are easy for your Teddy to grasp, ensuring they will not accidentally swallow anything. After choosing an item, wave it in front of your Teddy to catch their attention. Then, throw it a short distance and give the "Go" command. Typically, your Teddy will instinctively run towards it. Once they pick it up, call them back to you with the "Bring it" command. If they hesitate to release the item, don't try to forcibly take it. Instead, offer a treat in exchange and reward them after they drop it. After they consistently pick up items, stand still and wait for them to return the item to you, then reward with a treat.
