Caring for a 10-Day-Old Miniature Pinscher: A Guide

Caring for a 10-day-old Miniature Pinscher (also known as a Min Pin) is quite challenging, as puppies at this age are still entirely dependent on their mother's milk or require meticulous hand-rearing. They are extremely delicate and need constant attention from their caregiver.

At just 10 days old, a Miniature Pinscher puppy is very vulnerable. It's crucial to provide them with the proper care. We recommend feeding the puppy with puppy milk replacer, preferably goat's milk formula. Feed them small amounts frequently, ideally every two hours. Overfeeding can lead to digestive issues. Maintaining a warm environment is also important, with an ideal temperature range of 22-25°C (72-77°F). Furthermore, these young pups cannot eliminate waste on their own, so you'll need to gently stimulate their anal and urethral areas using a cotton swab to help them defecate and urinate.

As the puppy grows, gradually increase the amount of milk replacer at each feeding. When the puppy reaches one month of age, you can start the weaning process, and by around 45 days old, you can transition them to puppy food or specially formulated starter food. This careful transitioning is essential for their growth and well-being.

Typically, newborn puppies are cared for by their mothers. Your main responsibility is ensuring the mother dog is healthy and well-cared for. However, if the puppy is separated from its mother soon after birth, you will need to take over complete care. It is extremely important to provide the puppy with adequate nutrition to boost its immunity and resistance to illness. Proper nutrition and consistent care are critical to the health and survival of such young puppies.
