How Corgis Show Affection and When They Bond with Their Owners

If a Corgi loves you, it will show several telltale signs, such as exposing its belly to you, rubbing against you, gazing at you intently, wagging its tail when it sees you, and even playfully chewing on your shoes and socks.

1. Exposing Their Belly:

A dog's belly is a very vulnerable area. If a Corgi frequently lies down in front of you, exposing its belly, and even allows you to rub it, this demonstrates trust and affection. It means your Corgi absolutely trusts you.

2. Rubbing Against You:

Dogs use scent to mark their territory. If your Corgi often rubs against you, this is another sign of affection. They typically only exhibit this behavior towards those they are comfortable with. It is also the Corgi’s way of leaving its scent on you, indicating to other dogs that you are its owner.

3. Gazing at You:

Eye contact can have different meanings for dogs. If a stranger makes eye contact with a dog, it might perceive this as a challenge. However, when a dog habitually gazes at you, it's usually because they are curious about what you're doing, and it's also one of the ways they express their love.

4. Wagging Their Tail When They See You:

If your Corgi always wags its tail when it sees you, it’s a definite sign they love you. Wagging tails are a common way for them to express friendliness and a desire to be close to people.

5. Chewing on Your Shoes and Socks:

Shoes and socks carry our strong scent, which makes a dog feel secure. That's why they like to chew on them. This behavior might be a nuisance, but it's actually another way your Corgi shows you affection. If you don’t want your shoes to be chewed up, make sure to keep them out of reach.

When Do Puppies Recognize Their Owner?

Generally, puppies start recognizing their owner around 3 months old. Once a dog recognizes its owner, it will display high levels of obedience. They will come immediately when called, follow any commands from their owner, and respond to training. Furthermore, dogs will show protective behavior toward their owner, rushing in to protect them if they sense any danger. They will also often stay by their owner's side while they are sleeping. Dogs are very dependent on and trust their chosen owner, wanting to stay close, get pats, and have company. If their owner is not nearby, dogs may become anxious and uneasy.
