Sphynx cats particularly enjoy being petted on their head, chin, back, and ears. It's beneficial for owners to frequently engage in petting, which helps in strengthening the bond between you and your feline companion. Regular gentle touch can make your Sphynx feel secure and loved.

1. The Top of the Head
When kittens are young, their mothers often groom them by licking their heads. This action helps clean and shows affection. When you gently stroke the top of your Sphynx's head, it reminds them of their mother's care, making them feel secure and comfortable. Since they can't easily reach their own head, it's also like giving them a good scratch in a hard-to-reach place, which they truly enjoy.
2. The Chin
Sphynx cats have a lot of soft tissue under their chins, making it a great spot to gently scratch. If your cat's eyes start to narrow when you're petting its chin, that's a clear sign that it's loving your 'massage'. The light pressure seems to be very enjoyable for them.
3. The Back
The back is a difficult area for cats to reach on their own, and they usually love being touched there. While petting your cat's head, you can continue the massage down the body. Run your hand from the head along the entire back. This is an area where Sphynx cats particularly love the attention. It's a great way to build trust and affection with your feline.
4. The Ears
A Sphynx cat's ears are full of nerve endings, making them highly sensitive and yet another area that they cannot clean themselves. By gently rubbing and massaging your cat's ears using your thumb and index finger and scratching behind the ears, your Sphynx will likely feel extremely relaxed, and might even start purring. This gentle touch can be very soothing for them.
Are Sphynx Cats Easy to Care For?
Sphynx cats, also known as Canadian Hairless cats, are a naturally mutated breed. They're relatively easy to care for, just like any other cat breed but with the main exception of needing additional attention to staying warm. With the exception of a bit of soft and thin hair on their ears, mouth, nose, the front of the tail, and paws, they are mostly hairless. Their skin is very wrinkled and elastic. When it's cold, it is extremely important for owners to ensure they are kept warm. Other than special attention to temperature, Sphynx cats are rather easy to look after and make excellent pets.
