Zooplus DE

It's highly recommended to have a litter box in your rabbit's cage. Rabbits can be trained to use a litter box, which makes cleaning much easier for owners. Instead of cleaning the entire cage, you'll only need to clean the litter box daily. Common types of rabbit litter boxes include corner litter boxes, rectangular litter boxes, and high-sided litter boxes. The specific type you choose should depend on the size of your rabbit.

Having a litter box in the rabbit cage is essential. By training your rabbit to use it, you'll only need to clean the designated area, making your daily care routine much easier and more convenient. The available rabbit litter boxes come in different shapes like corner, rectangle, and high-sided designs. Select a litter box according to your rabbit’s adult size; larger rabbits should opt for rectangular or high-sided boxes while smaller or medium rabbits fit best with a triangular litter box. Once the rabbit is litter trained you can let it roam and explore, which can enhance the joy of rabbit ownership. Clearly, a rabbit-specific litter box is crucial in the rabbit cage.

How to Train Your Rabbit to Use a Litter Box

When training your rabbit, avoid yelling or hitting, as this will make the rabbit distrust you and won't follow instructions. You can place some cat litter or shredded paper in the litter box and add some of the rabbit's droppings to help it recognize the scent. Then put the rabbit in the litter box, especially when it shows signs of needing to go to the bathroom. If you discover your rabbit has had an accident outside the litter box, correct it firmly and immediately put it in the litter box, so that it knows that it should relieve itself only inside the litter box. You must also promptly clean up any accidents outside the litter box and use a deodorizer to prevent future accidents in the same spot. Rabbits are intelligent animals, and with consistent training for ten days to two weeks, you can successfully train them to use their litter box.
